- Last updated: Mar 21, 2023
What is Emirates:
Emirates, also known as Emirates Airline, is an airline based in Dubai. It is the largest airline in the Middle East and North Africa region and operates one of the biggest fleets of Airbus A380s. Dubai is often called the gateway to Asia, and Emirates Airlines serves well over 150 destinations.
Emirates launched its first flight in 1985 and has become one of the world's most iconic brands ever since. It offers premium services, on-board comfort, extensive in-flight entertainment options, and an array of post-travel benefits like global lounge access. The airline boasts a pretty impressive fleet that includes Airbus A380s, Boeing 777s, 787 Dreamliners, and Airbus A350 XWBs. Emirates Airways was established back in 2003 by royal decree under Decree No 2, which was passed by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan who is also the president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). They started with just one flight to Abu Dhabi but have come a long way since then. Emirates is the national airline of the UAE for a low-cost carrier and serves more than 160 destinations around the globe. The word "Emirates" translates as "Nationhood." It's also featured on the flag of the UAE.
The original fleet included three Airbus A320s, an Airbus A300B4, and a Boeing 727 carrying passengers between Dubai and Al Ain in Abu Dhabi. By 2009, Emirates had already added to its fleet by adding two Boeing 777-200LRs, five Boeing 777-300ERs, four Airbus A319s, six Airbus A321s, and two Airbus A330s.
The company is led by a management team and board of directors who are based in Abu Dhabi. The CEO, James Hogan, was the one who set up Emirates Airways back in 2003. He's also responsible for creating marketable ties with other airlines like Virgin Australia and Jet Airways, which have helped increase their annual revenue to $16 billion last year.
Emirates Airways has received recognition for its outstanding business achievements, such as being named "Airline of the Year" twice by Air Transport World (ATW) in 2011 and 2014. Skytrax has also been dubbed "Most Improved Airline" every year since 2013 because it has experienced amazing financial and moral improvements after facing some initial challenges in 2010.
What is Qatar Airways:
Qatar Airways, based in Doha, is one of the fastest-growing airlines globally, with a presence on every continent and over 150 destinations. They've also won several awards for their business practices and wonderful service like "Airline of the Year" by Skytrax three years in a row from 2013-2015. It's no wonder that they're considered one of the best and most reliable carriers around! The carrier has grown tremendously as fast as its home country, which celebrated its 40 th anniversary last year. Since it was established back in 1993, Qatar Airways has undergone tremendous growth and rapid expansion internationally while transforming itself into an acclaimed airline company. It is the country's signature carrier and is also the nation's largest employer for nationals. Qatar Airways generates revenue of $14 billion every year with its fleet of over 150 planes outfitted with luxurious amenities specially designed and installed on brand new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, Airbus A330-200s, and newly delivered Airbus A350-900XWBs.
The company has been recognized by many different entities, such as The World Economic Forum, which awarded them "Airline of the Year" in 2007. It was dubbed the Middle East Business Aviation Association (MEBAA) "Airlines of the Year" for three consecutive years from 2012 to 2014, and Skytrax named it "Best Business Class Airline Lounge" in 2013.
Qatar Airways is headed by Akbar Al Baker, who has been with the company for more than 20 years, and he's also the chairman of the board and managing director. He's helped give Qatar a solid footing on global markets while expanding its business operations around the world. The CEO, Saad Hammad, is at his side overseeing all aspects of day-to-day running, including revenue management and business development, along with many other things. Emirates vs. Qatar: The Business Model
Emirates Airways and Qatar Airways both have an imposing business model. They use it to generate revenue from the fees they earn for using their services and those generated by businesses operating virtual offices in Abu Dhabi and Doha. They are both based in the Middle East, where there's a growing demand for air travel between countries daily. Their respective governments granted these carriers air operator's certificates (AOC) to operate flights domestically within those countries and internationally outside of them. These airlines have successfully expanded globally because their strategic marketing strategies include direct relationships with other companies and creating commitments with major shareholders. As you might know, Emirates Airways was co-founded by the government of Abu Dhabi, while Qatar Airways is controlled and fully owned by the State of Qatar. The business models for both airlines are very similar because the government in which they're based owns huge shares in each, but that is not what got them to where they are today. It's their dynamic strategies that have permitted them to achieve such great success over the years so far!
Emirates vs. Qatar airways: Which of these airlines has the best customer service?
One of the biggest factors for consumers when choosing a carrier is their customer service, and both Emirates and Qatar Airways have virtually identical service quality rating scores. They are ranked #1 by Skytrax based on the number of awards they've won in 2013 and 2014 for Best Airline in Africa, Middle East, Asia-Pacific & Europe. Similarly, they were also recognized as "World's Best Business Class Airline Lounge" at the same time period by Skytrax. Flights with both airlines exceed the expectations of those who regularly travel because they offer great amenities along with a lot of additional services, including complimentary meals and drinks that are served quickly and efficiently.
Both carriers have got something special to offer passengers depending on which class they're in, and with both airlines, you'll have a choice between First Class, Business Class, or Economy. You can look forward to an extra touch of luxury in the VIP lounges available to Emirates first-class passengers and Qatar Airways business class travelers. If you book your trip directly on either airline's website, you will be able to access an exclusive booking portal where they'll offer some additional extras like hotel discounts or upgrades into a higher category when it comes time for your departure.
The Airbus A380 is also something worth mentioning because it's used extensively by both of them. After all, they play such a big role in each airline's operations. Both carriers fly this plane regularly, which has three classes available for their customers. This is a great plane for them because they can fly more people simultaneously and other benefits like having the latest technology onboard. It's also known for its comfort and safety, which are two things that you should never compromise too much when traveling by air around the world!
Both of these airlines have something special to offer their customers, and you might decide your next trip could be with either of them. If you're going to start planning any big trips shortly, make sure you check out what each has available because there may well be some deals or promotions that will save you money in advance! They really know how to take care of their passengers' needs, and sometimes it's better not to fly with smaller companies when you can get better service from a larger one. These two airlines are great examples of this because they have been growing since they were established, and their successful strategies should be an example for all others looking to expand!
Emirates vs. Qatar airways: Which of these airlines has the best safety rating?
When it comes down to choosing a safe airline, Emirates and Qatar Airways have similar safety records, which implies that their aircraft fleets are being treated well throughout flight time. As you might know, an Airbus A380 is in use by them regularly, and it's known for its excellent safety record as well. Before any planes take off on flights anywhere around the world, there are some checks in place, and those are done by airline personnel and specialists trained to do so by the aviation industry. This is a great way to ensure that safety has been taken care of for your upcoming trip because you can be sure that all parts of the aircraft will be up to date and safe enough for you to fly. With a company like Emirates or Qatar Airways, you also know that it's not just one aircraft being used on every flight, but several different ones that give them the added advantage of rotating between various planes if needed. Whether you're going on a long-haul flight or a short-haul one, both airlines have got everything prepared before takeoff, including ensuring there are no problems with their aircraft, along with making sure the route is safe to travel on. If you're an aviation enthusiast, then it will put your mind at ease knowing that the people putting their lives into these planes have been trained well enough to do so with great proficiency and safety in mind.
When you fly with either of these airlines, some other things about them enhance their safety record even further.
They always choose routes carefully - You should know that when they're choosing a route for one of their flights, they'll do so carefully as they don't want any unnecessary hazards or dangers along the way.
You won't be surprised by sudden changes in flight plans - Your airline may have made a mistake before out over the Atlantic Ocean, which would be a problem if the pilot didn't know about it. However, you won't have that worry with these two airlines because their flight plans are completely checked out before they leave, and there's nothing for you to be concerned about.
They don't accept any planes that have been reported as faulty - Sitting on a plane waiting to take off, then wondering why it isn't leaving is never going to put your mind at ease. With these two companies, you can be sure that their planes are not only in perfect working order but safe enough for you to travel on them without any problems.
There's always a backup plan if there's bad weather - You never want to be caught up in bad weather when you're flying, especially in an aircraft that doesn't have the best safety record. With these airlines, you shouldn't ever have to worry about this happening because they'll always have a backup plan in case something is wrong with the weather, along with having alternative routes that will get you to your destination safely and without any problems!
When it comes to finding one of the most beautiful airline cabins, Emirates and Qatar Airways are among some of the best available for you today. Aside from all their modern features, they've got luxury at their finest which should be enough reason for anyone who's never experienced flying like this before to try them out as soon as possible! While many people may think that Qatar Airways is more luxurious than Emirates, I'm afraid I completely have to disagree. In fact, Emirates has specialized seats that are significantly larger and more comfortable than Qatar Airways. The fact that Emirates has lounges in all their hubs (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha, etc.), while Qatar Airway does not offer any lounge at any of their hubs. It's a tough call, but I do have to pick Emirates as the winner here.
With both these airlines, though, you're guaranteed to choose blankets if it's cold or a personal entertainment system if you want something to watch during your flight, which is one area where they differ. For example, with Emirates, you'd get an extra-large blanket, whereas, with Qatar Airways, the blankets would be smaller, yet they still provide them for all passengers, so it's good enough for me.
Conclusion
At the end of the day, though, I still think that these are two amazing airlines, and if you haven't tried flying on one of them yet, then what are you waiting for? You'd be missing out on what can be considered as some of the most memorable flights around today. Not only will your first-time flying experience be more enjoyable, but everything about these airlines guarantees that you'll always feel like royalty when traveling through them.
